Farooq Abdullah quits as National Conference chief

Farooq Abdullah on Friday quit from the position of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) chief due to health issues.

The former chief minister Farooq Abdullah Friday announced his resignation as chief of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) party.

In addressing his party’s workers in Srinagar, the JKNC patron stated, “My health doesn’t permit me to lead the party now.”

The next party president will be elected on December 5, with the vice-president of the party who was also the ex-J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah being the likely successor.
