Twitter has launched its premium subscription service, Twitter Blue, in India.
The service, which can be subscribed to on the mobile app or web, offers users the ability to edit their tweets, access custom app icons, top articles, and a reader feature, among others.
The monthly subscription fee for the mobile app is Rs 900 and Rs 650 for the web. Additionally, there is also an annual fee of Rs 6,800 for web subscribers.
Twitter Blue subscribers will have a blue checkmark on their account, indicating that they are verified users. The previous blue checkmark was used to indicate verified accounts of public interest. However, with the launch of Twitter Blue, the blue checkmark can now indicate either a verified account under previous criteria or an active subscription to Twitter Blue.
Twitter Blue also has some requirements for usage, such as confirming a phone number and having an account that is at least 90 days old. Changes to profile information, such as the profile picture or username, will result in the loss of the blue checkmark until the account is validated.
Twitter Blue is part of Twitter’s global roll-out and is designed to enhance and personalize the user’s experience. The service offers a number of powerful controls to make Twitter more customized, including a 30-minute window to edit tweets, the ability to undo tweets, longer video uploads, and longer tweets.
